Lexis AI has two prices. On a flat-rate plan, the AI is a quoted add-on to a Lexis+ research subscription, and 2026 buying guides report the full Lexis+ with Protégé bundle at roughly $128 to $494 per user per month, with all-in seats for small and midsize firms around $250 to $500. Off a flat-rate plan, the LexisNexis price schedule charges $99 for each Generative AI Ask, $12 for each Document Upload and Ask, and $250 for each AI summary or draft. Solo and one to three attorney firms can buy research plans in the LexisNexis online store. Firms of four or more negotiate with a sales representative.
Start with the only numbers LexisNexis puts in writing. Its public price schedule for law firms lists per-use charges for Lexis+ AI. The schedule says these prices do not change a flat-rate subscription but do apply to anything used outside it, which is how an unplanned AI habit turns into an invoice surprise.

One naming note, because it confuses a lot of quotes. LexisNexis announced US general availability of Lexis+ with Protégé on February 24, 2026 and said it fully replaces Lexis+ AI. The price schedule still says Lexis+ AI. Sales reps, invoices and review sites use both names for what is, for a buyer, the same line item.
Flat-rate prices come from third parties. Some are independent buying guides, some are reseller listings, and some are published by LexisNexis competitors, which we flag because they have a reason to make the number look high. Read the table as a negotiating range.

A $12 document question and a $494 monthly seat are both real Lexis AI prices. They describe different contracts. Most small firms end up on a flat-rate plan, because twenty AI questions at $99 already cost more than a seat.
The research subscription underneath is priced by jurisdiction and library. One state with Shepard's is a different seat from 50 states with CourtLink and Law360, and the AI add-on rides on top of whichever you pick.
Store pricing for small firms drops about 25% on a three-year term. That discount is only worth having if you are sure the firm will still want Lexis research in year three.
Guides written before February 2026 price Lexis+ AI. Guides written after price Lexis+ with Protégé, which added agentic workflows and later a larger Vault. Some estimates include the new tier and some do not.
Five attorneys is past the store's one to three attorney limit, so this firm gets a quote. Here is the arithmetic on the reported figures, so you know whether the quote you receive is ordinary.

The rows are not the same product. Lexis buys you authoritative research with citation checking, which LegalSoul does not do. LexisNexis says it never trains AI models on customer data. Protégé BYOK lets a firm hold its own encryption keys in AWS KMS, Azure Key Vault, Google Cloud KMS or HashiCorp Vault.
These are different tools. Lexis wins most of the rows that matter to a research-heavy litigation practice, and we say so. LegalSoul wins on price transparency and on reading a document fast.

Lexis AI earns its seat price in a litigation or appellate practice that already lives in Lexis research. If your week is briefs, motions and case law, having Shepard's run inside the AI answer is a real safeguard, and a firm already paying for the research subscription is adding a layer rather than buying a new platform.
Accuracy still needs checking. The Stanford RegLab and HAI study published in 2024 found the earlier Lexis+ AI answered 65% of test queries accurately and hallucinated on 17%, better than the other research tools tested and nowhere near zero. Budget partner time for verification either way.
It is a harder sell when the firm's AI need is document review: a stack of vendor agreements, a commercial lease, opposing counsel's exhibits. You would be buying a research contract to get at a $12 or $250 upload charge. Ask whether the agentic Protégé tier is in your quote or priced as a further upgrade.
Solo attorneys and firms of one to three lawyers can buy Lexis+ research plans in the LexisNexis online store. A 2026 pricing guide reports the Essential plan at about $152 per month on a one-year term and about $114 on three years, with Enhanced and Professional tiers above it. The AI layer is priced on top of the research plan.
For a litigator who researches case law every week and relies on Shepard's, usually yes. For a firm whose main AI job is reading contracts, leases and exhibits for risk, it is hard to justify, and a published review plan at $99 a month covers that need.
